Many of you remember Brady who came into GRR’s care in September 2012.   He stole the hearts of everyone: the hotline volunteer who took the desperate owner’s call, the intake volunteers who dropped everything to pull him out of the mud and muck, the medical team who worked countless hours to restore his health, the foster family who diligently adhered to his rehab schedule (sometimes at 2:00 in morning), the matchmakers who knew he needed a special forever family, and that special forever family who loved him unconditionally.

Without the commitment of many, Brady’s story would have had a much different ending.  While every rescue story isn’t as dramatic as Brady’s, every rescue dog has one.  GRR’s mission is to rewrite each story with a plot line filled with a family, fun, and love.

As the owner of a GRR dog, you know that your dog was given a new lease on life because of GRR volunteers.  Please join us on July 20th and learn how you can help to keep this vital  work going.

We microchip dogs at our dog events.  Foster dogs are microchipped at no charge.  Adopted GRR dogs at $25, and a non-GRR dog for $30.  Compare these prices to your vet and they can't be beat.  Due to our costs, additional donations are greatly appreciated.  Our board member, Emily, will be happy to meet you at her home in the Arboretum area.  Email her to schedule a time.

If you are in the Schertz, San Antonio, New Braunfels area contact Tracy  to microchip your dog.

Would you be willing to donate a bit of your free time  to help Gold Ribbon Rescue?

We also have areas of need for anyone willing and able to contribute more time each month - matching dogs to homes, intake of dogs, growth opportunities to take on coordinator roles - all of which can ask 20+ hours each month.

As a non-profit, non-paid all-volunteer organization, we have many different positions available, from hands on with the dogs, transport, fostering, organizing files, special events coordination, hotline coverage, interviewing applicants, home visits, grant writing, fund raising, ... the list is endless. Any area that you think can help with - we can find a place for you!

It's fun, easy and all training is provided.

Watch for more exciting events throughout the year as we plan more gatherings. Events will at times combine social aspects with educational opportunities, and of course, will always offer some kind of small voluntary fund raising event to help GRR continue to provide the much needed assistance to an increasing number of Golden Retrievers! If you would like to help plan future events, have ideas for fund raising events, or ideas for social gatherings, please send an email to  with your feedback and ideas, we look forward to providing events tailored to our members’, adoptive homes’ and volunteers’ needs.
