August 2006:
I'd like to give you an update on our
adopted Golden. Back in May, my wife Cat and I, Russell
were fortunate enough to adopt Pflugerville Phil. We fell
in love with him immediately. We changed his name and he is now a
very proud "Boomer." When we adopted him he was a bit under weight
at 55lbs. We are happy to report that he is at a very healthy and
fit & trim weight of 65lbs now. My family has always had goldens and
I must say Boomer is by far the sweetest dog I have ever owned. He
craves affection and we are more than happy to give it to him. As
long as you have a hand available for petting he is more than willing
to occupy it. At 65lbs he is a bit big for a lap dog but he gives it
his best effort. He has blended in nicely with his two older sisters
(2 cats). As far as manners goes, he is pretty good at your basic
obedience commands. We are in the process of getting him through
some additional training. He absolutely loves to meet new people and
new animals. His two favorite playmates are my grandparent's little
mini schnauzer and my parent's golden. The golden is really his
favorite just because he gets to wrestle with someone his own size.
He sleeps by our side every night and in the morning he loves to hop
into bed and lay with me after my wife gets up.
