Zeus, age 2
AVAILABE FOR ADOPTION
Zeus’s owners
surrendered him to the shelter due
to a move—they’d be living in a small apartment, with no room for even a
medium-size dog, and certainly not a 75-pounder like Zeus. The shelter photos
showed a big, handsome blond (“Yes, I can certainly see why he’s called Zeus,”
commented one of our volunteers) in desperate need of a good bath and brush-out.
We knew the salon treatment would make this guy even more gorgeous. And it did!
He has a great personality, too. His foster family reports:
This gentle giant is
ready to greet you with enthusiasm as soon as you wake up! He loves to go on
long walks, which will be easier on you once he’s had a little bit of obedience
training. He’s already learned not to pull so much on the leash, but sometimes
he forgets when he sees another dog. When playing in the yard, he enjoys chasing
a ball once in a while, but don’t count on him bringing it back. Tennis balls
might not be his favorite, but rope pulls, squeaky toys, and stray socks never
seem to get old.
He’s had a few
accidents, but overall he’s doing really well on the housebreaking front. We’ve
found that it’s very important to take him outside 20 or 30 minutes after he’s
had a healthy drink of water.
He gets along well with
other dogs and would love a playful companion. He is an attention hog, though,
and likes to muscle in whenever anyone else is getting pets or grooming—he’ll
even drape his head over the other dog’s back, slobber on its head, etc. If you
have another dog, you’ll just need to work a bit on teaching Zeus to wait his
turn, and to understand that there’s plenty enough love to go around.
Zeus also enjoys
exploring the yard, chasing down a scent, or relaxing in the shade with you.
This sweet, good-natured boy will follow you everywhere, indoors or out.
Everything you do just seems so interesting! He would love to be the center of
attention in your loving home.
