Andy/Cody

Updated 10/26/10

Cody’s my name,
Crackin’ codes is my game.
Tryin’ to figure it out,
What are these changes all about?
Some major things happenin’ here
Gotta get this doggy brain of mine in gear.

Had a yard and some acres,
But I needed more—
And the fence wasn’t real secure.
I’d take off… head out to explore.
I wanted so much,
But my people wouldn’t stand for such.

So…off to GRR I go.
(What’s GRR? That’s what I’D like to know.)
Intake person drives me away.
Where will I be going today?

Answer: somewhere called “the vet’s”!
And here I am, with other pets.
Feeling very sleepy now,
All I can really think is “wow.”
Next thing I know, I’m waking up…
But I’m not quite the same pup.

“Neutered ,” they said…
Hard to get that through my doggy head!
I feel a bit different, that’s for sure–
Heck, I didn’t even know I needed a cure!

Next, it’s off to the foster home;
Man, I hope I’m not alone.
Rah! Two other Golden gals!
I feel like I’m in heaven, pal!

Three kiddos live here too,
Means there’s ALWAYS something to do.
(We get along well…
But ya know with kids, it can be hard to tell.)

There’s always more adjustments to make
I guess there’s just a lot at stake.
But I like to hear that “Good boy, Code-Man!”
It’s nice to know I have so many fans.
I know SIT, DOWN, COME, and STAY,
And at human meal-times, I stay out of the way.
Getting all that praise is good!
I’ve learned to hang on their every word.

Speaking of meals, I eat twice a day.
But you’d better stay outta my way.
I’m not aggressive when I eat,
But I do chow down with lightning speed!
I all but inhale,
And I’m thin as a rail.

These Nylabone things – man, how cool are they?
I could lie around and chew  ’em all day.
My foster home has a basket full.
(I hope my forever home follows that rule.)

I am a bit of a sensitive guy,
So please don’t raise your voice too high.
All it takes is a finger wagged in my face—
I quickly cower and think I’m in disgrace.

I’ve been told I’m pretty good on a leash.
Who wouldn’t want to do that walking thing – geesh!
Rides in the car are pretty cool too,
I just hang out in the back ’til the trip is through.

I don’t want to forget to mention,
I really do adore attention.
If ever I’m not getting enough,
I’ll give you a nudge to get more of the stuff.

So I’ve cracked the code,
But I like it in my super-sleuth mode.
This foster place is a stepping-stone.
Pretty cool gig to help us Goldens find a home.

Let’s see here, I wanna finish strong—
This place is great, don’t get me wrong;
I know this adoption thing takes some time,
But I’m ready for my forever home. Time to finish this rhyme!
