Rocket

Found running stray back in August, Rocket is 10 or 11 months old now, with all the energy you’d expect of a young Golden. He’s a handsome boy with a beautiful coat, a sweet personality, and LOTS of zip! He loves his Golden foster sister and spends hours play-fighting with her until they are both too pooped to play any longer. He’s great with cats – as far as he is concerned, they don’t exist. He loves all his toys, too, and promptly shreds them to pieces no matter how “dog proof” they (supposedly) are, but he is a good boy and does not tear up anything but his own toys. His favorite sport is swimming, and he’d stay in the pool all day long if we would let him. Another favorite sport, unfortunately, is attempting to “rocket” after cars—that’s one that we are working to discourage, needless to say! We’re teaching him to “look” and offering a super-special treat each time a car comes into view, with the idea that eventually he’ll be so excited about the treat that he’ll sit down and look at mom & dad, NOT at the street, when he hears an auto approaching.

Rocket completed his housetraining with record speed and now proudly rings the  bell on the back door when he needs to go out. He has had off-and-on troubles with his tummy, but we’ve found a brand of food (Royal Canin EN) that seems to agree with him just fine.

Like any Golden pup, Remarkable Rocket would do best with an active, at-home family with children & another dog to help tire him out!
