Rusty
Not too young, not too old; calm in
the house but peppy & high-energy in bursts when he’s outdoors; happy and
outgoing… in short, Rusty is Mr. Right! His owners were spending too much time
away from home to give an active Golden the attention he needs, so now Rusty is
in GRR care and will soon be ready to find that perfect home. He is wonderful
with children (he grew up with a toddler) & fine with other dogs in his foster
home— “he’s with 4 large dogs and 2 tiny dogs & is good with all!” He mostly
just hangs out on the porch or in the living room with his new dog friends, but
in his original home, he played the day away with his border collie pal—so with
the right dog, he might well enjoy lots of chasing and tussling.

Like quite a few dogs, Rusty can be kind of “snarky” when he’s on lead and sees
another dog. His foster mom, who is also a trainer, has been working on this
with him, and of course the more he gets out and about and sees other dogs, the
faster the problem will resolve. (In his first home, his family was so busy that
Rusty mostly just got his exercise in the backyard instead of taking strolls
around the neighborhood.)
Rusty is crate-trained and housebroken. He sleeps nicely right through the night
and is making progress on those leash lessons! He’s the perfect dog for someone
who wants a grown-up Golden who still loves to play but will settle down nicely,
too.
